Reschke Fine Wines from Coonawarra sponsored the private view of an exhibition of contemporary Australian Aboriginal paintings in London on September 25. The exhibition comprised a collection of paintings from the Northern Territory and the award-winning Reschke Sauvignon Fumé Blanc, in its eco bottle, was served.
Nicolas Audebert, winemaker at Argentine estate, Cheval des Andes, visited London to launch the 2005 vintage of Cheval des Andes, a joint venture between Cheval Blanc’s Pierre Lurton and Terrazas de los Andes. Audebert combined his passion for wine and horses, by playing polo at Ham Polo Club, with a bunch of wine industry professionals, including Martin Williams from Gaucho restaurants, which lists Cheval des Andes.
Who said the age of sail was dead? Tuesday October 7 will see the three-masted schooner Kathleen & May dropping anchor at St Katharine’s dock by Tower Bridge in London as part of the Fair Wind Wine Initiative. The event is sponsored by Sud de France and, accordingly, the ship’s hold will be filled with wines from Languedoc- Roussillon. Fair Wind Wine has been developed as a sustainable, environmentally friendly transport initiative for the wine trade.
Tony Hadley of Spandau Ballet fame cracked open a line-up of bottles of his gold award-winning Red Rat beers to open the new Beer Exposed celebration, which ran in London from September 25 to 27. Brew masters from round the world gathered, and gourmet guests included musician-cheesemaker Alex James, who recently showed his orchestra conducting flair on BBC's Maestro.
