Stripe lager has been named as one of the ‘must have’ accessories for UK scene setters by the Independent Newspaper. The beer sits alongside iconic brands that include Converse, Vans and Nike in an article called ‘The Hip Parade’.
Diageo has installed 14 new copper stills as part of the construction of its new distillery in Roseisle, Scotland. The copper stills, weighing up to six tonnes each, took coppersmiths around four months to craft and had to be transported in sections. Diageo is investing £40 million in the project.
The first ever bottle of Jura 40 year old whisky is to be sold at a silent auction at Harrods. The first bottling of the single malt whisky, which is also the last remaining of the 98 bottles produced, is expected to be sold for more than £2000 - the reserve price that has been placed on it. Bids can be made in store until 23 September.
Barracuda pub group's student brand, Varsity, has launched a competition to find the "Face of Varsity" for next year's poster campaign. It is encouraging students to take pictures of themselves or their friends and upload them to be included on the Face of Varsity gallery. Visitors to the Varsity website can view the images and vote by ranking the pictures either 'crazy', 'sexy' or 'cool'. The winner will receive a six month modelling contract with The Casting Suite Agency.
