WSTA nominates How as Chairman

Friday, 18 July 2008
The Wine and Spirits Trade Association (WSTA) has announced the nomination of Tim How as its new Chairman.

Tim How recently announced his decision to retire as Chief Executive of Majestic Wine. A widely respected industry figure, he has steered the wine warehouse chain to growing success for the last 19 years.

His nomination will be put forward for approval at the WSTA's annual general meeting in April 2009.

He will replace Christopher Carson who has been WSTA Chairman since April 2006 and was recently appointed Chief Executive of GIV UK Ltd.

Tim How said: "It is an honour to be asked to be Chairman of the WSTA and I hope my many years of experience in the business will benefit colleagues as we work to promote the industry.

"I'd like to pay tribute to Christopher for leading the WSTA over the last few years and broadening industry support for the trade body during a period of growing public and government interest in the drinks industry."

Carson said: "I have worked with Tim for many years and wish him well. Now more than ever the industry needs a strong voice and I know that Tim, with his significant wealth of knowledge of the industry, will continue to provide solid leadership to the WSTA."
