Concha y Toro saves 10,000 through WSTA procurement

Thursday, 03 July 2008
Chilean winemaker Concha y Toro has saved £10,000 on stationery supplies through the help of WSTA (Wine and Spirits Trade Association) Procurement.

The company made the savings as a result of a reverse auction, with a pool of suppliers bidding online to provide the company with services.

WSTA Procurement organised the e-auction, recruiting 32 companies to offer a range of stationery and display materials.

Bidding by contestants led to contracts for supplies being awarded to two companies, with Concha y Toro securing significant savings from the initial prices put forward.

Cristin Lpez, Concha y Toro managing director, said: "This is the sort of member service which adds value to a business like ours, because it involves minimum hassle and maximum gain. The reverse auction has helped to stretch our marketing budgets by saving us money and saved us valuable time using the on-line system to manage the tendering process."

WSTA chief executive Jeremy Beadles said: "It's great to see WSTA Procurement paying off for our members again. It shows what can be achieved when an innovative technique is used to maximise competition to provide basic services."
