Intercontinental Brands secures World Cup sponsorship deal

Industry News
Friday, 05 September 2008
InterContinental Brands (ICB) has secured exclusive broadcast sponsorship of four of Scotland's live 2010 World Cup away qualifying matches.

The deal, signed with Setanta Sports, includes sponsorship of all the Scottish football World Cup qualifying away internationals. ICB, which also owns brands including Buffalo Creek and Red Russian, will use the sponsorship deal to place its Vodkat brand at the four games, the first of which is being played against Macadonia on Saturday.

ICB joint managing director, Paul Burton, said: "This opportunity seemed doubly appropriate: Vodkat is already hugely popular in Scotland and this sponsorship, associating the brand with the national team and the sport that is so close to many Scots' hearts, continues our successful association with major national sporting events.

"Through the Setanta deal we will be reaching audiences in 39,000 licensed premises as well as a massive home audience. Total impact delivery for all four games is estimated at 8,968,000."
